Abstract(in English) | Energy storage systems comprising series-connected lithium-ion battery modules need not only cell equalizers but also module equalizers, resulting in increased system complexity. This paper proposes the modular equalization system using dual phase-shift-controlled capacitively-isolated DAB converter. The proposed system adds only a few components to the conventional cell equalizers to achieve both the cell- and module-level equalization. With the proposed dual-phase-shift control technique, the phase-shift angle between switching legs in each DAB converter is manipulated to equalize cell voltages, while switching legs between neighboring DAB converters are also manipulated to eliminate the module voltage imbalance. The experimental verification using a prototype demonstrated the efficacy of the proposed system by eliminating imbalance of cell and module voltages. |
