A Study on Rapid Replacement of User Information Between Redundant Edge Routers

Abstract(in English) The Edge router is deployed at the end point of the network, and have service profile information for each user. It implements user authentication functions, QoS for each user, and service protocols such as video streaming, tunneling. In the current operation, the edge router uses intra-chassis redundancy that is realized by duplicating package modules, however, if a double failure occurs, the impact is enormous. Therefore, inter-chassis redundancy that can further improve reliability has been studied. Unlike the core router responsible for relaying the network, the edge router configures profile information for each user. For that reason, it is necessary to transfer the profile to the spare chassis at high speed for switching at the time of failure. In this paper, we propose a method of assigning priorities to profile information to be transferred to standby system, and control the transfer order of profile information. We consider how to reduce the failure time of users by this method.
