An access method using fixed contention window in wireless LANs

Abstract(in English) In Wireless LANs, DCF is adopted as a standard access method. In DCF, each node has a random waiting time within the range [0,CW] slots in order to avoid collision, thereby varying the frame transmission timing. Furthermore, when a collision occurs, the collision is avoided by doubling the CW. If the transmission is successful, CW is returned to the initial value. However, by immediately resetting CW to the initial value, when there are many nodes, collisions are repeated and resources cannot be used effectively. Therefore, in this paper, an appropriate CW is determined according to the network condition such as the number of nodes, and an access method that does not change the CW even when a collision occurs is proposed. We compared the total throughput of the proposed method and DCF by simulation.
