Study on improved relay vehicle selection in V2V cooperative communication system for far-vehicle V2I uplink transmission

Abstract(in English) In rural and suburban areas, dense base stations cannot be deployed, and the transmission performance between base station and far vehicles deteriorates. To solve this problem, we have proposed a cooperative vehicle-to-vehicle relay transmission scheme in which a near vehicle to base station forwards the far vehicle’s data and the quality of far user transmission is improved. However, in the previous study, the relay vehicle was randomly selected and sometimes inefficient pairing of vehicles occurred. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new pairing scheme between near and far vehicles, and conduct a large-scale vehicle network simulation. Then, we show that the proposed scheme improves both the far vehicle throughput and the system throughput, that is, in rural and suburban areas the performance of vehicle-to-infrastructure transmission can be improved by the proposed scheme.
