Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Recent computer systems are composed of a great deal of software, among which open source software (OSS) is being used. NTT is actively working on OSS development for open innovation and efficient development in network area. In particular, community activities including upstream functions are important in order to use resources such as developers and equipment from the OSS community. In this presentation, in addition to the backgrounds that led us to the upstream activities, we also report how to handle intellectual property / working hours / development environment / evaluation indicators that need to be considered in order to smoothly promote community activities within the company. Furthermore, community activities including upstream are relatively easy if you have a position in the OSS community, such as a core developer who maintains OSS and has the authority to merge code, or a project leader who is responsible for coordinating OSS projects. In order to do so, it is necessary to continuously carry out contribution activities in the name of individuals, including attending meetings and summits. In this presentation, we will share the knowledge actually gained through these activities and the skill sets and mind sets that are important to them. |
