Abstract(in English) | The purpose of this study is the development of system to evaluate cerebral artery occlusion easily. Ischemic cerebrovascular diseases require proper treatment as soon as possible from the onset of symptoms. Especially it is important to evaluate the existence of an occlusion at a cerebral artery in the emergency medicine, and a rapid and easy measurement method is required for this purpose. It is known that the pulse waves observed at the carotid artery contain reflected waves from the brain. In this study, we measured the pulse waves at left and right carotid arteries of healthy subjects and patients with a cerebral artery occlusion by a piezoelectric sensor system. Because the patients have occlusions in one side, measured pulse waves of left and right arteries were compared. In order to evaluate quantitatively the left-right difference, we considered the cross-correlation function of the waveform, the number of positive/negative peaks, and the inclination of the rise of the pulse waveform. We obtained some tendencies of the waveform characteristics of healthy and occlusion patients. |
