Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In our past study, we reported that ultrasonic destruction of microcapsules was caused by cavitation bubbles. The size of cavitation bubbles under ultrasound varies from those smaller than the resonance size that causes Rayleigh contraction to those larger than the resonance size that does not participate in the sonochemical reaction. In addition, the activity around and inside the bubble (shear stress, shock wave, microjet, sonochemical reaction, sonoluminescence, etc.) varies greatly depending on the size of the bubble. In this study, we investigated the effects of surfactant addition on ultrasonic destruction of capsules and cavitation bubbles. In addition, as one means of evaluating cavitation bubbles that contribute to destruction, sonoluminescence (SL) intensity was also measured. SL is a light emission phenomenon observed when bubbles smaller than the resonance diameter. This phenomenon is caused by cavitation bubbles which collapses at high temperature and high pressure.
