Abstract(in English) | Currently, mobile terminals equipped with a liquid crystal display (LCD) such as smartphones and tablet terminals are explosively spreading. Therefore, a flexible LCD using a plastic substrate is attracting much attention. The flexible LCD fabricated in this study uses the MVA mode for the liquid crystal display method. However, there are problems that the aperture ratio is low compared to other liquid crystal display modes, and that when the viewing angle is tilted in the dark state, positive optical birefringence occurs and leakage light increases. Therefore, in this study, we propose in-cell application of λ / 4 plate and coating type Negative-C plate using UV-polymerizable liquid crystal material. Patterning considering wavelength dispersion characteristics is possible by coating technology, and film formation by a coating process is possible. This time, we report that the λ / 4 plate and Negative-C plate were actually in-celled in the flexible MVA-LCD. |
