Energy Detection for M-QAM Signal

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we address energy detection for M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal. Typically, statistics of random signal is approximated by the Gaussian distribution. However, this may not able to provide accurate detection probability. For this issue, a previous work proposed to calculate detection probability for given M analytically. In this paper, we show that the distribution of observed energy can be approximated to one distribution regardless of M. In addition, a range where the approximation is applicable is shown.
