Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A function of the human mind called "normalcy bias" is known as a factor to prevent residents from evacuating when, e.g., hearing announcements via outdoor mass-notification sound system. We hypothesized that addition of background sounds to the emergency warning announcements could increase urgency and induce evacuation behavior. In our previous study, we investigated the changes in subjective impressions of the announcements due to added background sounds, and showed that the factor scores with added background sounds are higher than those without background sounds. In this study, to investigate the effect of pre-learning, the impression was evaluated without or after watching an disaster education video. As a result, the factor scores evaluated after watching the video are higher than those without watching the video, when background sounds such as white noise and sound of sea waves are simultaneously presented with the video. This suggests that pre-learning can effectively enhance urgency by adding background sound which shows the same scene as the education video.
