Abstract(in English) | High-Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) is a new mobile communications platform which can provide mobile communications services from stratosphere to terrestrial LTE (Long Term Evolution) or 5G NR (New Radio) UEs (User Equipment) directly by utilizing aerial vehicles such as balloon, airplane or airship with radio equipment at the altitude of 20km. The service area of the HAPS overlaps that of terrestrial mobile communications systems due to its ultra-wide coverage. In this case, spectrum sharing between HAPS and the terrestrial systems effectively utilizes spectrum resources. However, conventional studies on the spectrum sharing between HAPS and terrestrial systems have not been investigated so far. In this paper, we propose a downlink spectrum sharing system between HAPS and the terrestrial networks. In addition to this, we evaluate the communications quality of the downlink spectrum sharing in the actual environments based on outdoor propagation measurement and clarify the feasibility of the proposed system. |
