Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Break arcs are generated and magnetically blown-out by transverse magnetic field in a 500VDC/10A resistive circuit. Silver electrical contacts are separated at constant opening speed. The contacts are covered with electrically insulated silver pipes. Using pipes, it is expected that motion of break arcs on side surfaces of the contacts will be restricted to make the shape of break arcs easy to analyze arc length. Arc lengthening time, the images of break arcs during occurring break arcs, and the length of break arcs just before are extinction are reported. Increasing the notch length of the silver pipe, increased the arc lengthening time and the arc length just before extinction.
