Abstract(in English) | For underwater communications, acoustic wireless channels have conventionally been regarded as main media because of their capability of propagating long distances with small dissipation in energy. However, acoustic-based wireless communications suffer from their quite limited data transmission capacity. As a solution to this problem, underwater optical wireless communication technologies have recently attracting an attention, which can realize broadband underwater communications provided that transmission istance is sufficiently short. Because of their limited transmission distances, for optical-based underwater communication systems, it is necessary to construct a network of optical relay nodes. In this paper, we formulate an optimal relay placement problem for an underwater optical wireless network, and develop a global optimization method for the problem. |
