Abstract(in English) | In this report, we propose a hue-preserving color image enhancement method by using an ideal coefficient distribution and gradient norm-based weighted histogram. In addition, it is described that the relationship between the color manipulation of the proposed method and that in the HSV color space. In our algorithm, each pixel is represented by the convex combination of white, black, and its pure color. The coefficients of the convex combination are transformed so that those distribution closes to an ideal coefficient distribution in order to enhance intensity contrast and colorfulness. The ideal coefficient distribution is derived from uniform distribution of the RGB color space. Furthermore, a gradient norm-based weighted histogram is used to suppress the image quality degradation in the flat region. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can enhance the intensity contrast and the colorfulness while suppress the degradation in the flat region. |
