Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, the travel needs of blind people have increased, however, it is not easy to obtain travel information that blind people need, such as safety of travel routes. Lack such information causes that blind people often give up traveling. As a walking navigation for blind people, the Non-profit Organizations “Kotoba no Michiannai” has published voice guidance for the purpose of outing and walking support. However, “Kotoba no Michiannai” is limited to necessary destinations such as daily life, ward offices and major supermarkets. Hence the blind people are difficult to visit to where they have not been. Therefore, we propose an acoustic landmark system in order to support walking. Setting specific points on the route from the nearest station to the destination, users can walk to the destination by following sound flowing the markers. In this paper, we propose travel route navigation system using acoustic landmarks, especially when traveling the outdoor route guide from the nearest station to the destination and the indoor route guide supposing shopping.
