Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Recently, the mobile traffic demand is increasing due to the drastic growth in the number of connected devices and smart services utilizing wireless cellular networks. In order to meet this severe challenge, a key technology in 5G cellular networks of Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) which can provide low end-to-end latency and reduce traffic load on backhaul, etc., has been proposed. Most of the state-of-the-art works in 5G and beyond with MEC show the potential benefits of MEC in terms of solutions for technical issues. However, it is difficult for the operators to determine whether and how to install MEC in cellular networks due to the uncertainty that whether a return on investment of MEC could be fed back. Previously, we have done the research about the optimization of the number of MEC from the viewpoint of telecom operators. Our works focused only on telecom operators but did not include other operators such as backhaul owner, Cloud owner, etc. In this paper, we propose a social maximization revenue model with the investment strategy for the telecom operators who decide the number of MEC and the backhaul owners who provide backhaul capacity. The analysis results reveal that the optimal number of MEC and backhaul capacity for maximizing the two player’s profit is equivalent. Hence, it turns out that the advantage of the MEC can be better utilized by using both Cloud and edge resource in parallel rather than processing all on the MEC side. |
