Abstract(in English) Quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) are laser devices of generating wide wavelength range from the mid-infrared to the THz range. The mid-infrared region can cover wavelength regions called molecular fingerprint regions, and thus can be used for gas sensing. THz-wave light is transmitted through various materials. Non-destructive sensing applications are expected. Now that a lot of sensing data can be used in various ways using artificial intelligence and machine learning, the need for sensing is increasing. Laser diodes (LDs) have changed from edge-emitting types to surface-emitting types, expanding the range of applications. Also in QCL, a surface emitting type is desirable. In principle, the surface-emitting type QCL cannot be realized with a vertical resonator, but it can be realized with a method using a photonic crystal. This time, we report on the structure using PC.
