On the Relationship between Direct Source/Load Coupling and Higher-order Resonances in Microwave Bandpass Filter

Abstract(in English) It is well known that a direct source/load coupling contributes to the generation of transmission zeros at stopbands in bandpass filters. The direct source/load coupling, as suggested by the name, represents the amount of coupling when the input port (line) and output port (line) are directly coupled, but we should note that it is not always the case. It is theoretically pointed out that higher-order resonances also contribute to the direct source/load coupling. However, such a physical mechanism has not been quantitatively evaluated yet. In this paper, it is clarified by quantitative evaluations with a coupling-matrix extraction technique that the direct source/load coupling and its sign are mainly determined by higher-order resonances of resonators in a microstrip bandpass filter, as an example.
