Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast) is one of the next generation aeronautical surveillance systems. An aircraft periodically broadcasts its own GPS positions to ground facilities and other aircraft, thereby providing accurate aircraft position. However, ADS-B is susceptible to false aircraft information injected by malicious users or generated by avionics failures. It is said that a promising countermeasure for this security problem is position verification using TDOA (Time Difference Of Arrival), but theoretical evidence or system design method should be established. Therefore, the authors have been investigating a theoretical model of position verification performance such as probability of detection and probability of false alarm. In this technical report, experimental evaluation is reported to verify the model previously derived. Probability of detection under various thresholds was evaluated by applying the TDOA-based position verification to the signals of targets of opportunity and generated false signals. As a result, the proposed model and the experiment show a good agreement. This is a promising result to establish theoretical evidence which supports the TDOA-based method and estimation of probability of detection, which is needed for system design, by the proposed model.
