Abstract(in English) | After occurrence of a ceiling board collapse accident in Chuo Expressway Sasago Tunnel in 2012, local governments managing roads are obliged to inspect status of all tunnels and bridges every five years. Furthermore, the target of the inspection has been extended to paved roads, and the inspection procedure of the roads has been formulated. However, due to a shortage of engineers and financial problems of municipalities, about 83¥% of roads have not been inspected yet. Therefore, in this study, a large-scale sensing system utilizing fixed route buses is studied and developed. In the proposed system, measurement devices are installed on buses that are traveling a wide area, and sensor data is measured over a long period by various sensors attached to the device. The proposed system analyzes the sensor data to detect abnormal parts of the roads and/or vehicle bodies of the buses that should be repaired. The analytical method attempts to identify phenomena (e.g., vibration of vehicle body) related with the abnormal parts from sensor data that can be obtained by low-cost sensors. In addition, an experimental evaluation for obtaining sensor data for a long time is performed by installing a prototype of the measurement device on vehicle bodies of fixed route bus operating in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The obtained sensor data are compared among days or vehicle bodies to investigate whether there is a difference in the tendency of the sensor data. |
