Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper focuses on an image sensor receiver for visible light communication (VLC) in an intelligent transport systems (ITSs). In conventional image sensor based VLC (IS-VLC), single camera has been used as a receiver. On the other hand, in this paper, we propose to use stereo camera receiver. The remarkable features of stereo camera is the range estimation ability. Therefore, by using stereo camera as VLC receiver, front-facing ranging and wireless communication can be achieved in one device. In this paper, we focus on range estimation and improve ranging accuracy using LED transmitters for VLC as an anchor. LED transmitters have specific features, high-luminance and high-speed blinking. This paper proposes stereo ranging by applying LED transmitter detection (utilizing these features) to disparity estimation. Additionally, we introduce subpixel estimation using equiangular line fitting to obtain more accurate disparity. Finally, we experimentally demonstrate that the proposed stereo ranging achieves an accuracy of 60m±0.1m
