A Study on DCDC Converter for RF Energy Harvesting Applications

Abstract(in English) RF Energy Harvesting can collect small amounts of ambient energy to power wireless devices and it can be used anywhere, anytime. For this reason, it is very promising technology for applications where batteries are impractical. However, output voltage of the rectifying antenna is very low and internal resistance is very high so that it cannot power sensors alone. In this paper, we propose DC-DC converter which converts the output of energy harvester that has high internal resistance. By using Dynamic Substrate Controlled Charge Pump (DSCCP) we obtained 0.25V from 0.15V supply with 1kΩinternal resistance. DC-DC Converter circuit has been implemented on a 65nm SOTB process.
