[Invited Lecture] Wireless Transmission Technologies for Underwater Acoustic Communications and Thier Performance Comparison in Acoustic Experimental Pool and Shallow-Sea Environment

Abstract(in English) This paper discusses feature's comparison and experimental evaluation results of wireless transmission technologies for underwater acoustic communications (UWAC), where the wireless transmission technologies are a multiple single carrier (MSC) modulation scheme employing multiple differential detection (MDD) and a single carrier block transmission (SCBT) scheme employing frequency domain equalization (FDE). This paper performs experiments in severe doubly-selective environments, e.g., acoustic experimental pool for severe time selective environment and shallow-sea environment for severe frequency selective environment. Experimental results in acoustic experimental pool confirm that the MSC modulation scheme employing MDD with channel prediction has excellent tracking performance in severe time selective environment. Experimental results in shallow-sea environment confirm that the SCBT scheme employing FDE with channel interpolation has excellent performance in severe frequency selective environment.
