Abstract(in English) | In this study, a measurement method is proposed in which a magnetometer and permanent magnet are combined to continuously measure respiratory rhythm in daily life. To compare the proposed method with the conventional measurement method in which an accelerometer is used, not only the magnetometer and magnet but also the accelerometer was attached to the abdomen and chest of subjects. A thermistor was also attached under the nose to obtain a reference signal. When the subjects were at rest, respiration signals recorded by both sensors were synchronized with the reference signal. On the other hand, when the subject walked and ran on a treadmill, the magnetometer could measure respiratory signal that synchronized with the reference signal; however, the accelerometer could not obtain a synchronized signal, and body movement artifacts were predominant. Since it is important to measure a respiratory rate while a subject is moving, the proposed method, in which the magnetometer and permanent magnet are combined, suggested to be suitable for daily measurement. |
