Measurement of electronic density of state of SmB6 using point contact spectroscopy

Abstract(in English) SmB6 is known as Kondo insulator. The electrical resistivity of SmB6 is saturated at low temperature even though energy gap is completely opening. Recently, the origin of that behavior is discussed from the view point of a topological insulator, which has a metallic surface state. To reveal the difference between the bulk and the surface states, we investigated the electronic density of state (DOS) of SmB6 using point contact spectroscopy (PCS). As a result, PCS spectra was changed with decreasing the contact size. The size dependence of the PCS spectra can be explained by the change of the contribution between the metallic surface state and insulating bulk state.
