Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Despite humans perpetually process sensory information acquiring from the external environment, this cognitive mechanism remains still unknown. Ruiz et al. performed an experimental task in which multiple types of visual stimuli were presented to 20 people, and investigated which kind of stimulus images were effective for identifying subjects by event-related potentials. In this previous study, it was reported that even when the same stimulus was presented, there was an intra-individual variability of event-related potentials, and the event-related potential were different depending on the types of stimuli. It is, however, still unclear that when the difference in inter-individual variability of event-related potentials appears remarkably, how it changes with each recording day, and how it depends on the types of stimuli. In this experiment, we performed an experiment in which 9 subjects were presented with multiple types of stimuli on 10 different days, and inter- and intra-individual variability were examined. As a result, inter-individual variability of event-related potentials was strongly observed 100 to 300 ms after the second stimulus was presented, but intra-individual variability of event-related potentials was strongly not observed at any time. However, as the number of experiments was increased, the strong time zone of inter-individual variability of event-related potentials changed. In addition, the intensity of the effect of inter-individual variability of event-related potentials varied with the type of stimulus.
