Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is widely known that when an individual estimates a value after comparing it with a reference value presented previously (anchor), the estimated value tend to become close to the anchor. The mechanism of this effect called "anchoring effect" has been extensively studied in the fields of cognitive psychology and behavioral economics. In most previous studies, however, subjects did not require answering more than one to each question, so there have been few studies investigating how estimated values are influenced by external information presented successively. In addition, since most studies have adopted questionnaire for answering, the influence of bias due to the surrounding environment and mood could not been ignored. In this study, we performed an experimental task of updating the estimate value according to the repeatedly presented information and recorded EEG data from the subject during the task. Subjects performed 3 trials consist of 5 consecutive events whose anchor conditions are different one another per 8 different estimation targets. As a result, the repeating trials made the variation in the estimated values smaller regardless of the anchor conditions, while the repeating events made the estimation variation change depending on the anchor conditions. In addition, the variation of the estimated value for each trial is reflected in the difference between the maximum and minimum event-related potential amplitude from 200ms to 400ms, while the variation of the estimated value for each event was reflected in the potential amplitude averaged over the 400-600ms time window.
