Abstract(in English) In this report, the optical fiber coupler using the side polishing method is examined for the realization of the optical branching in which the flexible branching ratio can be obtained in addition to the existing optical fiber core. By the numerical analysis simulation using the three-dimensional beam propagation method, the optical fiber coupler which can freely set the branching ratio is designed, while the loss of the present communication light is suppressed, and the feasibility is confirmed by the experiment using the optical branching produced on the basis of the design.
