Abstract(in English) In recent years, the fifth-generation mobile communications system (5G) has been considered for the realization of a smart society, wherein data are collected through Internet of Things (IoT) terminals distributed everywhere. However, the data collection from IoT terminals in rural and suburban areas such as mountains, or near water bodies such as rivers is a problem owing to their distance from the base stations. In conventional studies, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted uplink data collection scheme in which the UAV acts as a base station in the air has been proposed. However, time division multiple access was used, and the transmission efficiency was not high. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an UAV-based uplink IoT data collection scheme using frequency division multiple access to achieve energy-efficient and proportional fair transmission. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated through numerical simulations.
