Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Approximately 10% of nearly 7 million Twitter statuses related to the "Maezawa New Year's Gift Project", a prize contest on Twitter held by Maezawa Yusaku in January 2019, were posted by "disposable accounts", accounts with no followers. We investigate the characteristics of disposable accounts and users' motivation for using them through the analysis of their user attributes, posting activities, and content of statuses. We found that disposable accounts have poor friends-followers relationship, post statuses directed to a specific account, and have trouble receiving information on Twitter. Disposable accounts were used mostly to apply to the prize contest.
