Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, a filtering antenna or filtenna is becoming one of the attractive circuits that can be designed with a well-established circuit synthesis theory of microwave bandpass filters (BPFs). To realize a wideband response, however, there are two problems: one is a theoretical problem that a narrow-band approximation cannot be applied to a wideband filter synthesis, and the other is an antenna design issue that the realization of both a low radiation Q factor and a unidirectional radiation pattern are required. To solve the former one, this paper introduces a filter synthesis approach of a wideband transmission-line based BPF, and proposes a microstrip filtenna consisting of two dielectric substrates individually constituting resonators and antenna to solve the latter one. We design a wideband fifth-order microstrip filtenna under the specifications of center frequency 4 GHz and fractional bandwidth 20%. As a result, it can be numerically and experimentally confirmed that the designed filtenna provides the specified wide passband, a unidirectional radiation pattern in band, and good skirt selectivity out of band.
