A Media Access Control using Capture Effect Improving Throughput Fairness among WLAN Systems

Abstract(in English) When a SACA method, which has been proposed as a media access control considering the capture effect and solving frame collisions in Wireless LAN (WLAN) and between multiple WLANs, coexists with the traditional CSMA/CA, it has been confirmed that the throughput between terminals using SACA method and CSMA/CA becomes unfair by the control that aggressively increases the transmission opportunity of SACA method if the distance between WLANs is short. To cope with this problem, in this paper, we show the throughput fairness can be improved by setting a threshold to limit the number of reusing the back-off time which is used in the previous successful transmission in SACA method. Furthermore, we propose a dynamic threshold setting method that controls the number of reusing back-off time according to the distance between WLANs in order to realize improving throughput fairness and higher total throughput. We also evaluate effectiveness of the proposed method by simulation experiments.
