A computational method to infer microbial interaction network

Abstract(in English) DNA sequence technology is indispensable for identifying a living organism as a set of genes. Metagenomic sequencing simultaneously targets several different microbial species to identify existing microbial species in a given environment. Informatics analysis of metagenomic datasets opens an opportunity to track a disease progression such as inflammatory bowel disease via compositional change of a gut microbial community. Although species composition can be easily identified from metagenomic data via visualization, more elaboration is required to infer associations among microbial species that constitute and maintain a community. In this talk, I would like to introduce research progress on inferring an interaction network in a microbial community from metagenomic datasets.
