Abstract(in English) | 1.Traditionally, the financial industry has maintained a conservative IT response that emphasizes safety and stability. In Japan, in particular, sophisticated "core-banking system" that was completed in the 1980s have been developed and used by financial institutions. These traditional financial information systems have become a significant impediment to the management of financial institutions due to their extremely high maintenance costs. 2.With the recent evolution of IT, attention has been focused on fintech, and the importance of innovation has been emphasized, and the need to switch to IT to meet the trends of the times has become shared among financial institutions. 3.In this lecture, I will give an overview of examples of fintech in Japan and overseas, introduce the trend toward cashless systems that are expanding worldwide, policy responses in Japan, and initiatives by financial institutions toward new technologies such as open APIs, and summarize and explain issues that need to be resolved in the future. 4.It will also explain the mechanism of price movements, side effects, and prospects of crypto-asset (virtual currency), which has recently attracted attention due to wild fluctuations in market prices. Crypto-assets are interesting examples of implementations of leading-edge information security technologies. Looking back on the path taken, we consider the future direction of blockchain technologies and their bottlenecks. |
