Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Water temperature distribution in sea water is essential information for analysis of sound wave propagation and monitoring of the global environment. It is also very useful information for efficient fishing. In the current water temperature measurement, the methods measuring the water temperature are taken by immersing a measuring instrument called a probe in the sea. However, the conventional measurement methods using the probes require time, labor and maintenance cost. In addition, throwing-away types may cause pollution of the marine environment. From this kind of circumstance, we discuss the feasibility of a remote water temperature measurement method using the ultrasonic signals that are Doppler-shifted by micro matter such as plankton and marine snow floating in the actual sea.
