Abstract(in English) | Research and development of optical transmission systems with over-1-Tb/s capacity per wavelength are underway to efficiently and economically accommodate client signals such as high-speed Ethernet in optical transport networks. In 100G class optical transmission systems, digital coherent technology enabled equalization and compensation of various signal degradation factors by digital signal processing. Also, Etc. it improved significantly transmission performance of optical signals such as spectral efficiency improvement and transmission distance extension. However, an optical signal with 1-Tb/s capacity and beyond has the baud rate of > 100 Gbaud and requires higher-order modulation formats with > 32 levels. In such specification, a utilization of both analog and digital technologies is a promising approach because there are various challenges not only in optical and electrical devices such as DACs (Digital-to-Analog Converter), ADCs (Analog-to-Digital Converter), and optical modulators but also in digital signal processing. In this paper, we review the challenges of optical transceivers with over 1-Tb/s capacity and introduce key technologies for realizing them |
