A Study of Virtualized Elastic Regenerator Placement Method in Translucent Elastic Optical Networks

Abstract(in English) Virtualized elastic regenerative (VER) consists of multiple sub-regenerators and functions as a virtual regenerative repeater resource pool. In a translucent elastic optical network using VER, it is necessary to solve the VER placement, optical path calculation, spectrum and sub-generator assignment problems for given traffic. In this paper, we first devise two heuristic algorithms for the optical path without reserve resources, with the aim of minimizing the number of VERs installed in the network and the optical spectrum resources. And evaluated. Furthermore, the heuristic algorithm has been improved with respect to avoiding excessive aggregation of VER sites and applying modulation method selection according to the distance to improve frequency utilization efficiency. Finally, we proposed an algorithm using the 1 + 1 resource-exclusive protection method, which is one of the failure remedies, and evaluated the total number of installed VERs and frequency band.
