Abstract(in English) | This study aimed to examine the sex differences in motivation to view sexually arousing images by adopting the pay-per view key-pressing task (PPV). The motivational salience of sexual images was evaluated by measuring the viewing time in the PPV. Also, in this study, the Kinsey scale was used to examine the sexual orientation of participants, and only the fully heterosexual participants were selected for our data analysis. The results showed that male participants had the highest motivation for opposite-sex images with high sexual arousal. On the other hand, female participants were more strongly motivated for couple images with low sexual arousal. The sex difference between male and female participants seems to reflect differentiated reproductive strategy between men and women, and our results are consistent with a set of behavioral predictions provided by Sexual Strategies Theory (SST). This study clarified the mating strategy conflict of man and woman based on evolution and adaptation using the experimental psychological technique. |
