Study of Beam Power Control Methods of Ka-band Multi-beam Broadcasting Satellite System Using Meteorological Data

Abstract(in English) In the next-generation satellite broadcasting, Ka-band is gathering attention because current Ku-band cannot accommodate any more services due to the shortage of frequency band of it. However, rain attenuation above Ka-band is significant and therefore, it's necessary to introduce the rain fade mitigation techniques. We propose the adaptive control method; the transmission power from the satellite is controlled based on the weather condition. In this article, the link quality is analyzed by using AMeDAS 10-minutes precipitation data, and we consider the effectiveness of our proposed methods.
