Abstract(in English) | Physical-contact (PC) type optical connectors are widely used in today’s optical fiber network because they provide both low connection losses and low reflectivity by eliminating Fresnel reflection. To maintain PC connections with high reliability, the connector end structure should keep satisfied condition over the long-term. In this study, we focus on the change in fiber withdrawal that is caused by the creep deformation of the adhesive used to fix the fiber in the ferrule. We detail the mechanism and undertake a comprehensive analysis of the creep deformation in the optical fiber connector experimentally. Then, we predict the long-term creep deformation in the connector by applying the time-temperature superposition principle law, and discuss the correspondence with the exposure test results. |
