Travel Time and Flow Estimation for Multiple Routes based on EM Algorithm

Abstract(in English) This paper describes a method for estimating multiple routes travel time and traffic volumes by using EM algorithm. Since, it is difficult to obtain actual ETC data, in this study, travel time data is generated by using the traffic simulator SUMO. The simulation setting includes a case in which single path is branched into two paths with one OD and a case which have three paths with one OD and the number of traveling vehicles for each path is different. For these simulated travel time data, estimation of travel time distribution for each route using EM algorithm is conducted. The estimated travel time distribution and the original distribution of the simulation are compared, and the accuracy of the estimation algorithm is discussed.
