[Poster Presentation] A Study of Frame Synchronization Method on Optical-Wireless Communication with Hybrid BPPM-OOK Frame

Abstract(in English) Turbo coding is used to improve the reliability of the optical wireless communication. As typical modulation schemes of turbo coding system, an on-off keying (OOK) and a binary pulse position modulation (BPPM) are well known. The turbo coding system using a BPPM-OOK hybrid frame has been proposed. A frame synchronization method for turbo coding system using the BPPM-OOK hybrid frame was proposed. The proposed method consists of two racing counters. However, the optimization of the number of counter stages has not been considered. In this paper, the influence of the number of stages of the racing counters on the synchronization performance is investigated. The detection probability and the renewal probability of the frame synchronization timing are derived. The relationship between the numbers of stages on the racing counters and the synchronization performance is evaluated. As a result, it is found that there is an optimal number of stages for racing counters.
