Design of Broadband On-Body Antenna Using Ultra-Wideband FDTD Method

Abstract(in English) In this paper, broadband antennas close to a human body are designed using an improved FDTD method which can take into account frequency dependency of material dispersion. First, the validity of the proposed method is demonstrated via comparison between scattering cross sections of a dielectric sphere simulating a biological tissue obtained by using the proposed method and those derived by Mie’s theory. Next, we use the proposed method to design broadband antennas close to the human body which operate in a frequency range between 300 MHz and 3 GHz. Finally, we fabricate the designed antennas and measure the reflection coefficient of the antennas.
