Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In intellectual activities such as Project-Based-Learning (PBL), the opportunities to conduct Web exploration has increased and they have been complicated. To successfully carry out such exploration, it is important for searchers to understand own intentions and to reflect them to the examination of search direction. However, such self-understanding is clearly difficult for unskilled people. In this research, we focus on the searcher’s behavior of page selection. Although page selection embodies the searcher’s intentions, it is often implicit and unconscious. We therefore develop methods for extracting the useful pages capable of the clues in refining the search intentions based on the analysis of those behaviors. Moreover, we design a support system by implementing our methods. This system promotes novices understanding own intentions and reflecting them to examination of search direction in a realistic way. This paper mainly describes the outline of the proposed methods. Moreover, we describe experiments on the extraction of promising pages and discuss the characteristics of our methods based on the results. Keywords Search intention, Page selection, Search direction, Springboard, Extraction of promising pages.
