Abstract(in English) | Detection of bicycle is an important issue in an advanced vehicle safety assistant driving system to avoid traffic accidents. Since all the types of bicycles share the same characteristic: two circular wheels, this research concentrates on locating the best match of the wheel. The detection of bicycle can be indirectly accomplished by transforming the detection result of its wheels. Unlike other related works based on Hough transform or learning from tons of image data, this research proposes a simple template and optimize the matching with genetic algorithm. Our method does not need any training data nor the learning process. By matching a small template with candidate regions, our method is able to detect the best match of bicycle wheels from a single image. The experimental results are also given to show the performance of the proposed method. |
