[Encouragement Talk] An Interactive Grouping Method for Timeline-based Operational Log Visualization

Abstract(in English) Visualizing operational log data by timeline is effective for understanding the actual state of complex operational processes. While grouping related elements of timeline is effective for finding potential problematic parts caused by various operational factors, existing techniques have difficulty in supporting users’ trial-and-error process of grouping. This paper proposes an interactive grouping method to support switching hierarchical structure and/or flexibly grouping of timeline elements on analytical viewpoint. To verify the effectiveness of the grouping method, this paper introduces visualization results of applying a prototype tool using the proposed technique to operational log data of two type of actual operations.
