Degradation of GBAS VDB coverage and assessment of impact on GBAS system operation

Abstract(in English) GBAS is a next-generation aircraft landing system using GPS and being introduced to Japan. This system broadcasts augmentation information which includes GPS error correction data and monitoring information for safety to aircrafts. It is concerned that received power drops occur due to aircrafts traveling on taxi-ways and buildings inside the airport, because one VDB antenna should support more than two runway for auto-land. This study clarifies the impact on the GBAS system when the received power drops and provides useful data for the future installation of GBAS VDB antenna.
