Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study tries to design a coded modulation scheme with a desired transmission rate by use of autoencoder and evaluates its block error rate (BLER) and capacity performances. In the autoencoder, the numbers of inputs and outputs are identical but the one of middle nodes is less than the ones of them. Due to the structure of this network, the autoencoder can efficiently retrieve the feature values of input and output. Tim et.al have proposed to design error correcting encoder and its corresponding decoder with an autoencoder and shown that the performance of its error correcting code can get close to Shannon limit. This work tries to expand the autoencoder based encoder/decoder design to the case with arbitrary transmission-rate and code-length by adjusting the numbers of inputs/outpus and middle nodes. Some simulation results show that the encoder and decoder designed by autoencoder can approach to a Shannon limit. However, in the case with high transmission rate (e.g., faster than 4 bit/symbol), the performance gap between the designed code and Shannon limit becomes larger so that we need to do a tuning of network or reconsider the design criterion.
