Abstract(in English) We propose a structual optimization method based on a genetic alogorithm (GA) which is combineda real coded GA and μGA to realize a weakly guided multimode interference(MMI). The proposed method wasapplied to optical 90 ? -Hybrids employing silica-based 4 × 4 MMI couplers with operation across the C-band. Theoptimized result showed an imbalance of less than 0.23 dB, an excess loss of less than 1.21 dB over the wavelengthrange. than conventinal methods.
