Abstract(in English) | Today there is a boom in mountain climbing, and we have developed a system for observing mountain climbers in response to the problem of increasing numbers of climbers requiring rescue. This system is composed of three functions: a function for ascertaining climber location, a function for rescuing victims, and a function for preventing accidents. In ascertaining climber location, information from climber terminals with GPS is sent to a server via a repeater network covering the entire mountain, and a position log is created on server. Victim rescue comprises three phases: analyzing the log to determine climbers who may be in trouble, quickly finding a climber and confirming their situation, and safely and quickly rescuing victims. Accident prevention involves establishing a climber education curriculum and improving climbing trails based on this log. This report provides an overview of the mountain climber observation system. It also describes issues for realization. |
